 FusiDemos

Brain.png

This project was initiated with the aim of creating a space for debate around the conflict generated by the overuse of mountain natural areas in the regions of Ripollès, Osona, Garrotxa, and Alt Empordà. The name "FusiDemos" comes from Greek and is composed of the words "Fusi" and "Demos", meaning "Nature" and "People", respectively. Therefore, it refers to this new human-nature relationship that is intended to be built.

Based on an assessment of the current situation regarding access to and use of natural areas, the CST seeks to be a platform with an educational vocation, aiming to find a new way of understanding and relating to rural and mountain territories and to overcome the contradictions between the countryside and the city. In parallel, an experimental laboratory would be created to put into practice a more participatory, inclusive, and respectful management of natural areas.

Objectives:

  • Raise awareness of the existence of the problem.

  • Identify actors and territories that have taken action to address the issue, connect them, and create a network of mutual support.

  • Create new management measures for natural areas within a framework of participation and governance, while also ensuring the universal right of access to nature as a source of health.

  • Engage in political advocacy.

Activities done:

This project is currently on hold due to a lack of funding, but there is a strong intention to restart it as soon as possible. So far, three meetings have been held, all in 2022 (May, June, and September).
