On the weekend of November 23 and 24, the First Art Market organized by CST took place at the Can Trona Culture and Nature Center (La Vall d’en Bas). A total of 16 artists participated, showcasing around 33 artworks.
On Saturday at 12 p.m., the inauguration was held, where Iris Schneider, CST’s communication officer, kicked off the event by explaining the origins and practical aspects of the Art Market. Following this, Àlex Casademunt, president of CST, presented the work undertaken by the organization. Finally, Mireia Jiménez, from CST’s technical team, described the FusiDemos project, to which the majority of the proceeds from the event were dedicated. She also emphasized the importance of using art as a means to express issues related to environmental challenges. Afterward, attendees enjoyed a small snack and had the opportunity to browse through the exhibited artworks.
The event also included the sale of the 2024 Yearbook and editions from previous years in print, and a donation box was made available for contributions, allowing people to donate according to their means and preferences.
The Art Market was a crowdfunding initiative organized thanks to the participation of local artists and others from across Catalonia. Under the theme “Reconnecting Humanity and Nature,” the artists presented their works, set a price for them, and determined the percentage of the proceeds that would go to CST. During the Art Market, visitors could purchase the artworks, thereby supporting the artists' work and making a donation to CST. This initiative was a way to diversify CST’s funding sources and reduce reliance on institutional grants, which often cannot sustain the core structure of an organization like ours and are closely tied to specific projects with fixed deadlines.
For those who couldn’t attend, here is the catalog, where you can find more details about the philosophy behind the event, as well as the names of all participating artists and photos of the exhibited works, along with their technical and financial details.
Thank you to everyone who made this first edition of the Art Market possible!
We wish you all Health, Nature, and Art!
