2nd Edition (2023):
Conflict and Governance of Territory in the Ecosocial Transition
----
This time, the TWS took place on February 24 and 25, 2023, at the Center for Culture and Nature in Vall d’en Bas (Can Trona, La Garrotxa).
On Friday, February 24, the 2022 Annual Report of the CST was presented, with the theme “Seeking a New Rural-Urban Relations Framework,” by Mireia Jiménez and Raül Valls. The event also included an open session for interventions and questions.
On Saturday, February 25, various talks were held around the theme “Democracy and Governance for an Ecologically Restructured Society.”
Llorenç Planagumà was responsible for welcoming and moderating the different presentations. In the morning, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the question “What should governance look like to advance towards an ecologically restructured society?” was addressed, featuring presentations by Raül Valls, who discussed post-capitalist alternatives in the face of the civilization crisis; followed by Maria Àngels Alió, who gave a talk titled “Science, Society, and Democracy: Towards an Active Society.” The last morning presentation was led by Margalida Ramis, who spoke about ecofeminism.
In the afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the focus was on topics related to energy problems and conflicts and opportunities surrounding the transition to renewable energy. Following the screening of the documentary “Riudaura, Voices Against Fracking,” produced by CST in 2018, Sigrid Muñiz explained the EUDEMON project, also from CST, on energy transition and territory governance. Next, Francesc Magrinyà spoke about the construction of a territorial model for renewable energies and the main opportunities and threats.
Finally, time was allocated for reflection and collective debate.
